Drag and drop to replace asset in DAM

Hi - I've been instructed that when replacing an existing file in the DAM to name the new document as exactly per the original and then simply drag and drop into the DAM. However, having checked and rechecked the file name, every time I drop it in, it ends up creating a new document and the option to 'Replace' the asset does not come up. Any ideas?

Please consult with the documentation that discusses administrating them:

Managing Assets with the Touch-Optimized UI

Most of the tasks you can perform are specified here.

I am not sure what you mean by dragging and dropping into the DAM. The way to upload assets into the DAM is described in the above document.

When you upload an asset via the TOUCH UI ( as described in the docs ) with the same name as the original asset in the DAM  - you will be presented with the replace option - as shown here:

Hope this helps...

Hello, I am having the same problem as the OP. My file is named the same and I do not get this UI to create version, etc. I was able to successfully replace two other documents but the third document is not generating this dialog and is uploading as a new document. I am a user, not administrator if that matters.

Are you using Desktop App or some other tool to drag and drop?
