Deleting Packages (OOB)

Dear All,

Can we delete all the packages (Out of the Box) which comes after fresh installation of AEM. Is it safe or do we need to keep the packages?

I know but deleting the packages will not delete any content. I just wanted to keep the repository clean. And just wanted to hear from experts if we can do it.

Hi Maddy737,

Why do you want to do this in the first place?

The OOTB Packages have most of the code that is needed for proper functioning of AEM. How would you know which ones to keep and which ones to delete?

If you are looking for a production ready instance without the sample code, then you can start AEM in nosamplecontent run mode.

    Hello,

    As rampai​ mentioned, those packages are required for the normal AEM functioning. If you want to keep the repository clean, please follow the maintenance guide - AEM 6.x Maintenance Guide
