Bulk tagging assets from different folders 6.5 onsite version

Hi,

 

I have a task - hundreds of assets in various folders need a few tags applied one them. The tags are the same three / four tags for all the assets. 

I have an excel sheet list of assets that need tagging which seem was exported as a csv initially. The sheet only includes filenames with the path /content/dam/.../filename.jpg. Tags that need adding are from different locations within the tag hierarchy. 

 

Is there a smart way to deal with this task?

 

Currently I am manually navigating to folders, finding and selecting multiple files, then adding tags through file properties; or if I use search function for single file then I apply tags through manage tags feature. I do not have superuser access as nobody here knows anything about it, not even IT, however I am the admin of the library... with this task.  

 

I am not using CRXDE Lite because even Adobe team suggests not to use this interface for some reason... 

 

Any assistance will be much appreciated. J

Hi @poveim ,

You can use the OOTB metadata export and import functionality to bulk update the asset metadata. Mention the tag details for each asset path. Below is a screenshot of sample csv file and tags which are under different tag structure.

    This method worked. This is what I did:

    Exported CSV from each folder separately. Then opened the clients excel sheet and the exported CSV files side by side - one with clients indications on which asset should have which tags and one from the library. Copied file location links to the inserted extra column into csv. Then in excel used conditional formatting > highlight cells rules > duplicate values. This light up the cells that matched the ones that the client had selected. Then inserted required tags to the end of the tag cells in bulk. Some had to be done manually as there were single cases. Save CSV, re-upload to the DAM, check. Job done. 

    Wish there was a way to export tags in the below format as it would help with adding tags by copy pasting through csv:
