Blurry Image problem - Scaling - DAM

Hi All,

Do you know how does system scale the uploaded image in DAM?

Many images uploaded in DAM, are shown as blurry compared to original one.

To solve this problem, I configured a new matching rendition in the update DAM asset workflow.

After uploading an image, if I right click on this, select 'View Image Info', it shows dimension and scaled to..

For example: 222px × 319px (scaled to 256px × 367px)

I added '256:367:false' configuration in rendition...

However I can still see in DAM that system scales the image to same resolution as: 256px × 367px.

    How do I provide a link to the hi-resolution version of an image? By default, it looks like the image size is 400 x 400 pixels, although it was uploaded as a larger size. Is there a way to call an image URL from S7     so it is shown in its original size?

    Solution
    Use scl=1 to return the full image, as long as it stays below the maximum width and height as defined in the publish settings. You can change these settings by choosing Setup > Application Setup > Publish     Setup > Image Server.

    Select the option labeled "Reply Image Size Limit under Request Attributes."

I am not using Scene7. Is there any other way?

My understanding was that if we add few new renditions for any image, AEM will take the best available rendition to scale it. But I see same dimensions of scaling by system for any image, irrespective of its rendition...

Hence images are blurry in DAM.

Are you using Thumbnail servlet process in the workflow to generate image rendition? If yes try using web servlet process instead of thumbnail servlet. Make sure to keep the aspect ratio of original image is same as the renditions.

Are you by any chance creating another .web rendition, other than the OOTB 1200.1200?

Hi 

To prevent blurring/zoom/ weirdness in your images, keep it to these overall sizes:
    Small: 640px Width x Height
    Medium: 960px Width x Height (Note: May change in near future)
    Large: 1280 px Width x Height
    XLarge: 2500px Width x Height (for images that extend beyond the content area. Note: May change in near future)
