Author Publish - Content Migration to AEM 6.5

Hi all,

When we are doing Content Migration to AEM 6.5, should it be to the Author tier alone or both author and publish?

If we migrate to author alone, then could the whole thing be published, so that we could avoid Publish migration from outside AEM?

Kindly suggest how to plan this sequence.

I highly appreciate all your responses.

Thanks,

Rama.

@aem_forum  In my opnion If you are migrating the content it is always recommand to migrate only to author and then publish the pages on demand.

In AEM cloud we have "Activation Tree" workflow which will helps to do bulk publish of content.

But the main challange is on DAM assets (If DAM size is more that 5 GB), If you are planning to migrate DAM assets it is always recommanded to migrate assets to both author and publisher which will help in maintaining the meta-data details as well. Refer to below CTT tool best practices

@aem_forum AEM Author instances are generally hosted on a remote server and run on port 4502. In author instances, users can create content and pass the content to the Publishers via activation. The author instance is also the environment where users will upload DAM assets, configure components, etc. The author instance controls what content is published using replication agents

Whereas, the publish instance of AEM is where the published content resides. The dispatchers pull content from publishers to display to the user.

Hope this helps!

Hi Manu,

My main query is about content migration.

When we are migrating content to an AEM instance, do we migrate to Author only and publish this content to Publish?

Or we migrate to both Author and Publish?

Thanks,

Rama.
