Audit purge : save audit information that will be deleted

Hi All,

We are able to do audit purge by following the link http://helpx.adobe.com/experience-manager/kb/howtopurgewf.html  and installing the package Workflow n Audit purge-1.7.5.zip given there in 5.6.1 instance

However, users are not happy losing the old audit data.

What would be the best way to overcome this situation.

1] I guess audit purge cannot be avoided , else repository will become huge and not recommended. We have to go for this. Is that correct?

2] Does adobe have any way out which we can follow, to avoid this from happening.

3] Is there any other approach we can adopt here to overcome this situation.

Any thoughts on this, will be really helpful.

how I can retain/retrieve the audit information for a page , after purging is done.

After purging you can't.  Make sure to purge which is not required. Ex:-  per your corporate policy.

In case you need purged data on rare scenario, you can restore from the backup that has the audit data on  separate instance and then import.

It is more of design question and answer is depends on corporate security policy & how much you are ready to spend on infrastructure & maintenance.

Some industries, like financial, government, healthcare have much longer retention schedules than others  But at the end most of them will purge.

Additionally it depends how often do you use it, requirements etc...   You need to draw a line based on requirement and come up with good architecture. You can surely achieve it using latest aem.

Hi Sham,

Thanks a lot for your reply.

What I understood is that we have to implement a custom solution/architecture/design changes to overcome this.

I understand your point, but is it possible for you to explain at a very high level in brief, as to how I can retain/retrieve the audit information for a page , after purging is done.
