I installed the AEM Sling plugin for Eclipse (Clean new installation of Eclipse Mars on OSX) as directed in the Backend Developer Training videos. However, it does not add an AEM Perspective as shown in the videos.
Anyone have this working and could shed light on it?

I used on windows, it works on luna.
You can manually open perspective from options, see screenshot.
As of now they support only for kepler and luna
" We currently supports the Kepler and Luna versions."
https://docs.adobe.com/docs/en/dev-tools/aem-eclipse.html
Try installing it on kepler or luna not mars.
