AEM Scene7 Polling Importer and Asset Syncing

Avatar

Level 1

I'm using AEM 6.1 and trying to synchronize Scene7 assets to AEM 6.1 author via the polling importer but having some issues getting everything transferred over (it'll get some sporaic thumbnails).

https://docs.adobe.com/content/docs/en/aem/6-1/administer/integration/marketing-cloud/scene7.html

Looking at the page, I'm unsure what it means by...

"The polling importer should only be turned on if you want to use AEM/Scene7 integration for video."

Other parts of the page seem to indicate that you use the polling importer to sync all Scene7 assets with AEM with the exceptions of those listed on that page..

Right now at minimum I would want images/videos to be able to transfer over but can anyone clarify? I'm thinking this should be possible or something wrong with AEM?

System Settings

AEM 6.1 Author

Cloud configuration set to Scene7

Polling importer turned on for one folder within Scene7 (Polling is 300 seconds)

Hi George,

I checked with some internal folks and they recommended that you open a support ticket at https://helpx.adobe.com/marketing-cloud/contact-support.html.

Hi George,

You can use it on any kind of assets but it's not a commonly used feature for images. From a process perspective, it makes sense to load first in Assets and then publish through to S7, which is best practice. The reason why video is explicitly listed is because that might be a good use case as the polling importer helps bring encoded video renditions and thumbnails that Scene7 created automatically back to AEM Assets.

What you really want to avoid is having both Automatic Upload and Polling Importer both ON because that could cause an endless loop.

Thanks for the help Alva, to clarify we are not doing an automatic upload and only using the importer..

So I'd like to try and do is definitely publish on from the DAM assets to Scene7 but, from another instance configured to the same Scene7 account, being able to sync with those same assets.

For example if I publish images/videos from AEM Author 6.1-(Instance A) to Scene7, I would like to have AEM Author 6.1-(Instance B) when configured with the Scene7 settings to have the same assets.

Those assets however don't seem to be getting pulled in when I've configured those however.
