Add components over Sitekick

Hi,

I have done this tutorial: http://helpx.adobe.com/experience-manager/using/persisting-cq-data-java-content1.html and it works fine.

If I open a page (with the created template), the form is shown and works fine - but sitekick is not shown.

My next step would be to show the sitekick and to add components to this page.

Is there a tutorial how to do it, I have tried to understand this one, but I couldn't do it http://docs.adobe.com/docs/en/cq/current/developing/components.html#Extending%20the%20Text%20and%20I...

I have attached an image of my project structure.

I would be great if someone could help me - Thanks a lot!!

Hi,

In the tutorial which you have followed does not have a component. Sidekick will hold the list of components in it.

In the structure you have given, I dont see any components created and hence nothing will be appearing apart from the out of the box components.

If you open the page from http://<instance>:4502/siteadmin, sidekick will automatically appear with the out of the box components with it if you are working on AEM 5.6.x version

If you are using AEM 6.0, then the page would open with TouchUI and you may have to replace "editor.html" with "cf#" in the URL to change to classic UI

Let me know if you still could not get it

Thanks a lot for the reply.

I have opened the page over siteadmin but sidekick does not appear (see image at bottom)

Actually I thought that I have added components to my project. In the explanation of the tutorial, following is mentioned

  • components: contains components that your application uses.
  • page: contains page components. A page component is a script such as a JSP file.
  • global: contains global components that your application uses.

I thought that I have components in my project - page components. I guess that it has to be a specific component (not page and content components) which sidekick list.

Is this right and what could I do in order to show sidekick?

Thanks a lot!!
