500 Error on Local AEM Publish

Avatar

I'm trying to run aem publish, it shows a blank page when navigating to content. The replication is successful but clicking into the content in /crx/de shows me this 500 internal server error. I've tried most of the solutions that were related to this specific error but none of them really were successful. I'm not really an expert with AEM as I just discovered it a few months ago.

Hi,

If this is local and you don't have anything new, it is easier to start a new instance, just delete the crx-quickstart folder. If you cannot delete the instance, you could try checking the bundles and ensure everything is in "active" state, go to /system/bundles. Also check this thread as well: https://experienceleaguecommunities.adobe.com/t5/adobe-experience-manager/java-lang-nullpointerexcep...

Thank you! I managed to get it working by restarting the instance for the third time. I'm still getting blank pages for the content, but the server error disappeared. I was pressing replicate in crx/de in my author environment to see the content in my crx/de for publish. What are the steps to replicating all of the content to publish? Do I have to rollout my changes and publish in the author environment for each piece of content?

UPDATE: I managed to learn how to replicate all of them using the Activation Tree. I'm still getting blank pages though.

I also had the same 500 error pop up again, but I managed to remove it by deleting some folders in the crx-quickstart/repository/index folder

FIXED: We had an install folder with a file in our author that told aem to install certain packages for the content to be displayed. I did not have this in publish so aem was unable to install the necessary packages which caused a blank screen to be loaded.

Looks like you may have tampered with the replication agents on your local machine. You'd need to ensure that you are pointing to the correct AEM instance for example 4503.

It seems that CRXDE Lite should be a more resilient in this area...

This request does not actually perform the replication, but is rather reading the replication status (I don't the know frontend code of CRXDE Lite good enough to say if this always happens after the replication request has been done or not ...).

But anyway it throws this NPE because the property "lastReplicationAction" is missing on the resource you are trying to read the status from.
