‌For iOS, iPads are tablets and iPhones are phones.

For Android, any device with a screen width of 600 dpi or less is considered a phone.

For Windows, phones are not yet supported, so any device running Windows 8.1 is considered a tablet.

One minor tweak to what Bob said: on Android it's 600 dp (device independent pixels). In reality it means phones are phones and tablets are tablets, even if they are big phones.

This is the same logic for all three platforms that we use with the current DPS product.
