Zusammenfassung der Funktionsverbesserungsanfrage (RFE): Show warning that other editor is editing the same page
Anwendungsfall: Show warning that other editor is editing the same page
Aktuelles/erlebtes Verhalten:

At the moment, AEM allows two or more editors to edit the same page. Due to auto-saving one editor overrides the changes of the other.

There is a Lock feature, but users forget about that most of the time.

Verbessertes/erwartetes Verhalten: If an editor edits a page and a second editor starts editing the same page, both must see a warning with the name and email address of the other editor that is working on that same page.
Umgebungsdetails (AEM-Version/Service Pack, ggf. weitere Angaben): AEM as a Cloud Service
Name des Kunden/der Organisation: VERLAG DES OSTERREICHISCHEN GEWERKSCHAFTSBUNDES GMBH

Hi @martinkastler

Editors/Authors should make it a practice that while making a complex or a large content change create a version of that page. This helps in having a backup of content page. Although yes having an indicator to notify user that multiple users are working on the same page would be useful.

Thanks

What if we add a render condition to the Edit button, which is only enabled if the page is locked by the current user.

Until the lock is released, no one (except admins) would be allowed to edit.

@martinkastler, thank you for posting this idea.

This feature requires a very heavy lift with having a real-time central communication server that broadcasts such information among the authors. Right now, it's not our top priority, but we might potentially include it in the new Universal Visual Editor and later in other editors.
