Collections - improve usability and hygiene

As the number of created collections continues to grow, we’re observing some usability and maintenance challenges.

Key Issues:

1. Difficulty for users to find or filter relevant collections
2. Increasing need for better maintenance and hygiene of collections in AEM Assets

1. Filter Option: Public vs. Private Collections
1. Allow users to filter collections by:

1.      Public (shared)
2.      Private (created by the user) This would simplify navigation and reduce clutter in the list view.

1. Expiration Date for Collections
1. Enable users to set an expiration date when creating a collection. After expiry, the collection could either:

1.      Be automatically deleted, or
2.      Moved to an Archived state for review before deletion

1. Bulk Management Capabilities
1. Provide tools to:

1.      Select and delete/archive multiple collections at once
2.      Assign or update metadata like owner, expiration, or tags in bulk

1. Owner/Creator Information Display
1. Display the collection creator’s name in the list view, to help teams manage ownership and follow up with the right person.

1. Usage Insights / Last Accessed Date
1. Add metadata showing when a collection was last accessed or used.
2. This helps in identifying inactive collections for cleanup.
