Technically you should be able to add the ® inside the editor (either via copy & paste or some keyboard combination depending on the OS/local)
But be aware that the character is not part of the standard SMS character set and will thus force the message being encoded in Unicode format (which reduces the maximum length)
Thus potentially stating it as (R) may be an alternative
