Why Is 'Move to' in Analytics Workspace Just a Synonym for Copy?

Hello,

I have many workspaces created for individual report validation during a project. I would like to move them all to a single folder. But, it turns out that when I select a RS and choose the 'Move to' button on the action bar, and select the target folder, the workspace is copied, not moved. Further, I observe that if I make an update to the workspace that has been copied into the new folder, that update also is recorded on the copy of the workspace that is still in the 'Projects' top-level folder. IOW, the two copies are linked in some way. Maybe, the copy in the folder is just a symlink to the original? I don't know. 😕😕

This idea of 'move to' as an alias for 'copy to' leaves me dumbfounded. Why is it this way?

Thanks.

I cannot replicate this... I just moved a temp report from the main area into a Test folder... the report was moved, not copied.

If I "search" for the name of my Report, it will show up outside the folders, since the search will look at all.... There are two views available "Folders and Projects" or just "All Projects" (when searching, it acts more like All Projects).

I am in Adobe Analytics, are you in AA or CJA? Maybe there is a bug in CJA if that is where you are?

Wonderful! Thank you. I added the 'Location' column to the listing of project data and I now can see where the projects live. It's too bad, though, that the search is global, instead of just in the location in which you search. But, you have put me back on course, and I'm grateful.

Ah, Good to know there is a column for that. I don't use a lot of folders; I usually just use tags to organize my reports.

I think the reason that the search looks at all, is because they aren't really physical folders, but more like a virtual folder.

Think of it like a tag, but you can only apply one to each report.
