What does " reset" option does in this case?

An eVar has persistence which is why they remember values captured in it until it is expired or overwritten, if you click on reset, it will erase all the values of the eVar which is persisting but will not delete the already captured values. In simple terms, you are basically erasing the persisted values for an eVar.

RESET: Resets any existing value in the eVar. Use this setting when repurposing an eVar so you do mix an old value into a new report. Resetting does not erase historical data.
