Web SDK - exit Links enablement and data capture process

We are using webSDK for analytics tracking but we have click data disabled as it was causing double pageviews.

Now since it's not enable it should not have data for exits.

But I can see numbers in report when I am using exit metrics. I would like to understand, what's contributing to this data? and if that is correct? for me the numbers seems incorrect as in some case exits are same as visits.

Any thoughts on this?

Hi @rudraWiley ,

The exits metric that you are looking at does not have anything to do with click tracking. This metric shows the number of times a given dimension item is captured as the last value in a visit. Every visit has one entry and one exit i.e. why you see it matching to visits.

Cheers!

Apologies for further questions and appreciate the response.

So, does it sets for all the dimension in the data visit? because I don't think that same number of visits in campaign landed and left keeping last dimension as "campaign". Or am I reading this wrong?

Basically user wants to see number of users came through any campaign and left the site.

Also, does this exits metrics capture all values which left the site i.e. click on external link, close the window? what exactly this metrics capture or when does it fire?

Hi @rudraWiley

the Campaign Exit metric will be increased for that specific value as soon as the Visit expires (30 minutes of inactivity), unless the user clicks another campaign in the meantime.

taken from the documentation:

The ‘Exits’ metric shows the number of times a given dimension item is captured as the last value in a visit.

This metric is helpful when you want to understand more about the last thing visitors see before leaving your site.
Seeing the last values of a dimension can help you understand and optimize the experience a visitor gets before they leave.

Conversely, the Entries metric gives you the number of times a given dimension item is captured as the first value in a visit.

Inherently, the Entries and Exits metric values for the "Campaign", resp. "Tracking Code" dimension are typically almost identical.

Cheers from Switzerland!
