Visits metric Data warehouse

Avatar

Level 2

I noticed a difference between numbers returned by visits metric in Analytic workspace and visits metric numbers from Data warehouse report (on hourly granularity)

From my understanding, it could be because of the following case-

If a user visits my website and their visit lasts for 2 hours, then in hourly granularity, visit would be attributed to both Hour1 and Hour2

Can anybody help me validate my assumption? Are there any other possible cases where numbers would show a difference?

Hi @prerna ,
Adobe recommends using ‘Visits - All Visitors’ in Data Warehouse requests where visits are desired as a metric. Try this and see if there is still any difference in numbers.

@HemanginiS - Yes, did try that as per the documentation but the numbers are still more than those in workspace. What could be the reason for that?

Are you aware if the Site Catalyst option is enabled for that report suite ? If no than this might be the reason for the difference in numbers.

@amgup- will check that, but couldn't hourly granularity be causing this duplication for visits that might span across several hours?

@amgup- tried looking for report suite configurations to check for site catalyst option, can't locate it. Where can i find it?

@prerna ,

Same as sitecatalyst is an internal setting not exposed in Analytics UI so you need to get this verified by Client Care. Now, could you share a screenshot of the reports that you are comparing?
