Tracking Email Open and GDPR compliance

Hello dear community.

 

I found few days ago the following solution to track the open action on my "order confirmation emails" that are sent to my customers after a purchase. 

I'm adding the following pixel within the body of my emails' template:

If found this solution thanks to this post and this documentation.

 

My question is the following:

Does this solution track IP addresses and if so, how can I 1) no longer collect them OR 2) continue to collect them but in a GDPR compliant manner ?

Here I am from the same post, there are couple of things you should be aware about this implementation. This is just my post implementation and other external readings.

 

  • Every email render can possibly increment a server call on adobe analytics.
  • Only email clients that support HTML and allow images are to be tracked. Some email clients, such as Microsoft Outlook, block external images by default. These emails cannot be tracked until the recipients opts to download external images. As we are include the pixel in IMG tag and it is depend on the image downloading.

By default, those IP address are getting tracked in data warehouse report and not any other reporting from adobe analytics. This is generic and you cannot stop collecting in to data warehouse. Consider that this is no longer collecting in your general report and for GDPT complaint manner I request you to check with your adobe support manager.

    You may also consider using IP Obfuscation as described here: General Account Settings | Adobe Analytics. Note that the setting applies to all hits sent to the specific report suite.
