Time spent per visits vs. Time Spent per Visit bucketed discrepancy

Hi there,

I'm looking into our site engagement and have noticed that when looking at the time spent per visit metric, I see around 5 mins on average. However when looking at the bucketed time spent per visit, over half of our visits last less than 1 min, which tells a slightly different story.

Is anyone able to help me reconcile these two numbers? And advice on which to refer to?

Thank you!
Sonia

Hi,

I tried to create same tables and have few questions for you:

  • time spent per visit (minutes) - is it a calculated metrics you created?
  • Is the date range same for both your tables? - as upper table shows date range added FY 2024 Calendar which is showing 1 July to 30 June data. And for below table, there is not date range applied. Can you show complete table (below table in your screenshots)

You can also try 'average time on site' which gives similar result as 'time spent per visit' metrics.

Hi there,

Sorry, yes, here is the full table based on same date range

Time spent per visits is just a calculated metric to convert 'time spent per visit (seconds)' into minutes

Thanks for your help!

This tables shows 4.2 minutes per visit is spent on an average.

If you want to see in detail as exact minutes, you should use 'time spent per visit buckets' or 'time spent per visit granular'.

Example:
