The monetary value of a success event or a specified eVar

Avatar

Level 1

Hi

I'm responsible for a web service where users can send contact requests through a web form that has a drop down menu to select the topic of the request. Sending the contact request has been defined as a success event and the topic is saved to a conversion variable (eVar). I have a couple of questions about the setting:

  1. We would like to classify some of the contact requests as leads. Should I use conversion classifications for this? Do I have to classify the non-lead requests with something else?
  2. How can I add monetary values to the requests? Can each contact request have its own value or am I limited to adding value only to the success event (or even this)? Or should I actually use products to solve this?

Thanks for the responses!

Hi Simo,

For classification you will want to use the classification importer on your eVar : http://microsite.omniture.com/t2/help/en_US/reference/index.html#Classifications_Importer

I will suggest you to classify all the requests. If you do not do that a none line will be displayed in the classified report. So any value that is not lead, put value non-lead.

As you want to give a monetary value instead of using normal classification, you should create a numeric 2 classification : http://microsite.omniture.com/t2/help/en_US/reference/index.html#Numeric_2_Classifications

With numeric 2 classification you can classify the value that you want to give to an event. For example a lead one will have ~MyCost^~value~ set to lets say 3 . Meaning each time the success event for contact request is sent it will be classified 3 times its value if it is a lead one. And lets say non lead value in the evar will only have ~MyCost^~value~ set to 1.

~MyCost^~rate~: will be the success event for contact request.

Best regards.

Hi Simo, welcome! Could you clarify on you mean by classifying contact requests as leads? Also, where do the monetary values come into play? Perhaps if you gave us the overall picture of what you're trying to accomplish, we could help give you implementation recommendations.
