Originally posted Nov. 9, 2015:

The newest Kindle Fires just released recently. We notice are being bucketed in 'other' rather than 'tablet' in Mobile Device Type reports. This is happening both in our app/SDK-based report suites, and in our main web report suite.

Are others also seeing this?

PS Don't worry I will also be logging this with Client Care :)

PPS: Very rude of me to post twice, but since my original post was moved, the moved version kept redirecting me to an error, and either way it would not recognize me as logged in!

I chatted at length with ClientCare about this!

  1. Adobe uses a third party that takes User Agent strings and classifies them in to Tablet, Mobile Phone, Other, etc.
  2. The SDK world for apps (and the Mobile App folder dimensions) include the Device Name report. The SDK is able to be more accurate with device name than the user agent otherwise would be.
    • BUT there is no out-of-the-box classifications of these SDK dimensions up to wider device types
    • BUT BUT we could classify it ourselves (or create segments) to take care of that ourselves

Would LOVE to see a device type classification that Adobe and this third-party manages for the app SDKs. I don't want to have to keep track of this myself! This is what we pay you the big bucks for.

CAN I GET ANY PLUS 1S HERE??? yes
