Setting up referrer type to track email as source

I'm trying to figure out how to setup our emails to track the amount of traffic we receive just from emails as a source.  Currently, our emails aren't tagged with anything so we can't evaluate it's effectiveness besides from the email reports.  How can I tag our emails?

Hi Katrina, 

What I understand from your query there could be several ways to track emails

1. Create a marketing channel processing rule using a query string parameter. Here is an example - https://marketing.adobe.com/resources/help/en_US/mchannel/t_rules.html

2. Send the traffic from the email campaign to a redirect link and and track the traffic from that as referrer. This link would explain how - https://marketing.adobe.com/resources/help/en_US/sc/implement/redirects_overview.html

It is also possible to send an image request when an email is opened but that is quite a complex implementation.

Hi TM,

do you have any information around sending an image request within an email.  We can easily do it with our agency tags (e.g. DoubleClick) but would ideally like to track this in Analytics
