Hi,
Went from RB v4.7 to v5 after the release since it seemed like it could be hugely beneficial but apparently Adobe released a very faulty and buggy piece of software. So uninstalling it and going back v4.7 created a huge amount of issues, none of which resulted in RB working.
Long story short, new laptop running Win 7 and Excel 2013 (About reports 32 bit version) and neither v4.7 or v5.0 (further, not even 32 or 64 bit versions) work. Nothing. Doesn't come up on the Add-Ins tab; going to add-ins under options shows that sometimes Report Builder bridge is active, sometimes inactive, sometimes not there (depending on the install or its mood).
This is hugely frustrating and I desperately need help. It would be enough just to get back to where I was before this mess but I can't. I am loosing a lot of time since many Excel dashboards are build around RB and they just cannot be run.
Please help.

This is an incident that contains an issue. Unable to get any data since upgrading it just sits saying "retrieving data".
There is a workbook attached to the ticket.

Same problem here, not able to refresh any of my reports, RB 5.0 just hangs at Retrieving Data.
I tried to uninstall 5.0 and reinstall 4.7 but this version doesn't even show up in Excel.

Do any of you have incident numbers to go along with these issues? I was looking through our list of ReportBuilder bugs to be fixed on the 19th, but didnt find anything relevant to this thread. If there are bug ID's, I can check and make they're going to be fixed.
From what it sounds like, some issues are in existing workbooks, while some are across the board. If you guys can provide any more detail on how i can reproduce the error on my end, that would be great.

Same issue here. It was working last week and now all of a sudden it stopped working and "hangs". Was consistently working fine previously with the old version so this needs to be addressed asap.

Same issues here. This is a very critical situation - Adobe needs to put some resources into this problem!
The report builder at it's core is a very good tool, but it is basically useless at this point with all the problems:
I know that a lot of our clients have these issues.
Please do something!
Hi,
I'm not seeing the same issues with RB 5.0 as you do, but I'm still facing many of the same issues as I did with v4.7:
I was hoping that RB 5.0 would solve this for me, but unfortunately I'm still facing those issues. I'm aware of other Adobe clients having similar issues.

I also have a incident (#140611-000032) where I have reported the 'blank cells'-issue.

Similar experiences here, except this is the first time RB has been installed on this computer so 4.7 vs. 5.0 compatibility issues won't exist for me (new job, so I'm working from a clean install -- I have plenty for RB experience from a prior job, so I know how to use it). I can only make extremely basic queries work. I spoke to my old co-workers and 5.0 made RB un-usable to them.

Hello all,
similar issues here.
I also have the issue that it hangs at receiving data, but unfortuntately only on one of 5 computers. Back to 4.7, uninstalling etc. is also very difficult, as the uninstaller does not work very well.
The main issue we are facing is that after a refresh, all cells are empty and you have to click "Refresh" again to display the data. This is not a new bug, it also appeared in 4.7 and Adobe promised to solve it in 5.0. But nothing happened.
Several other clients have this issue as well (see also posts above).
In general, it is really critical that ARB has so many bugs and you cannot trust the tool, as you have to doublecheck all data and there is always the danger of "surprises" (new bugs).
I really like the ARB concept and the ability to create flexible reports, but if Adobe wants to promote ARB as an alternative to API for custom reporting, it should fix these bugs asap.

Hans
Hi Stephen,
any news on the original issues? I am experiencing exactly the same problems on my side.
Best,
Jörg

Hi guys,
I accidentally stumbled upon a solution to my particular situation, so with full understanding that v.5 is buggy, my solution helps my situation only - and that was to get a function version of report builder on the Add-Ins tab and working for Win 7/Excel 2013.
What I had to do was after a complete fresh image install on my machine, I installed v5 first which installed successfully and had the issues of hanging and not retrieving data (as expected). I then uninstalled it and installed v4.7 (both 32 bit versions). From that point - ARB worked perfectly fine.
Again, its a specific solution to the exact issue I had and hopefully it would be able to help someone who was in the same situation. It is a shame v5 doesn't work however it was critical that I had a working version rather than nothing at all.
Thanks.

Hi all,
I don't know why there is still no official statement from Adobe.
Today, I got an answer from ClientCare. The issue we are facing is related to the language settings of Excel and the comupter. It is when the region settings change (on an English OS), to German, or French, or any other non-english language. This is really an excel issue, see: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/320369
We can fully reproduce this on our side (switch all language settings to english, then everything is OK in ReportBuilder).
Do you also use an OS with non-english language?

I installed version 5 and went back to version 4.7 and my reports are working again. Too bad as version 5 was supposed to allow you to create conversion funnels and more.

Here is my incident #:
140604-000379
My issue echoes everyone else, the reports get hung up on retrieving data, some will update but not my entire workbook.
I've tried creating new reports on a blank spreadsheet and can't.
My specific workbook is attached in the incident.
EDIT: Started working for me again when I installed the newest update, some reason only the 32 bit works on my 64 bit computer. However, I have noticed that several calculated metrics are missing.

Thanks for the tip Hans, will try it out as soon as I have time.
Has anyone tested ReportBuilder this morning, now where the maintenance release is completed?

We are seeing some new issues this morning. All our scheduled reports that has Site Totals >> Total Time Spent in it are failing. All those reports were delivered successfully until yesterday.
It is becoming more and more annoying now. Each maintenance release of Adobe creates new issues. Disappointing!!!!

I have the same issue. A completely fresh windows and excel install. Downloaded the 32-bit version of 5, and got that some file (attached) couldn't be added to the registry, and now report builder is useless. Tried with 4.7 as well with the same result. Any help would be appreciated.
