Page views higher for a eVar than a prop - both tracking the same thing

On the site, there is an internal search function.  There is an eVar and a prop dedicated to tracking what search term is being used.  The counts for unique visitors and instances are exactly the same for the eVar and the prop.  For the prop, page views and instances have exactly the same counts, but for the eVar, the page views are an average of about 10 times higher than the instances.  I am lost, please help.

I would bet the Custom Conversion eVar has a longer expiration window which therefore attributes more page views post internal search interaction that the Custom Traffic prop (intrinsically only persists for the hit). So the difference is expected and in line with the configuration settings of the variables in play within the implementation. You can verify the variable persistence settings if you are the admin or you can work with your organization admin to confirm.

Best,

Brian
