Last page for visitor?

Avatar

Level 2

Hi,

I'd like to know if there is a way to see the last exit page on a visitor level?

I want to see the last pages for visitors who churned.

Any ideas?

Hi alessandrov92748270

the question you're trying to get data for might not be that easy. you have several stacked segments, never used them together.

1) visits who churned

Get all visitors (containers) who didn't have a visit this month, but before. follow the article Ou posted to get this segment. I would use something like this:

visitors where (visitors last 3 full month ) and exclude (visitors this month)

2) last pageview of visitor

you can get last page of a visit by a fance segment:

hit-segment

exclude visits before (page exist then page exists)

or

is single-page-visit

the exlude part normaly gives you all hit except the last one, therefore an exclude gives you just the last hit.

and since this exclude only works for vitis with 2 pages (or more), you need to include the single page visits

3) optional: page views

maybe narrow down to only page views, since 2) could include hits that are not page views ...

end: stack together

combining above segments should return the last page views of all visitors who churned from before.

I never tried it out exactly the same way, let me know if it works!

alessandrov92748270, could you share what task / use case you are trying to analyse?

Inspired by this very interesting article: Visitor Retention Analysis with Adobe Analytics

I'd like to see the page where users abandoned our site and churned. E.g. I filter users who were active in last 3 months and churned in last month (no activity for last month until month-to-date), I want to see which page they were (something like the exit page but on a visitor level, not session level).

Hello Urs,

could you explain more in detail how the second segment would look like and what it would actually do?expected behaviour?

hi laetizia_2018

sure, let me give you a longer explanation of the following segment:

hit-segment

exclude visits before (page exist then page exists)

or

is single-page-visit

first, lets look at the visit-container: it is a sequence of "page then page" which means all vosits are included where at least 2 "page" exists. since page is only available on a "pageView" that would give you all visits with at least 2 page views. applying the "sequence before" filter will filter the returning hits of all found visits until the latest sequence, only including the start of the sequence. that means, it includes all hits/pageviews until and including the second latest pageview. thus leaving out the last page view. and the final "exclude" of this container would return everything else, therefore only the last pageview...

oh, just recognized that you don't need the other condition with the single page visits, this should be included in the exclude-container.

that means the final segment for all last pages of all visits is like this:

visits segment where

exclude visits before (page exist then page exists)

Hi, The above reply is very theoretical. Could you please share one, e.g., of how this segment will be created in practical? because I am working on the similar scenario and wondering how to view the data for last visit

thanks for the explaination. have you ever tested this?

Because this seems to be a really tricky segment and if I would like to see the first page I could do it viceversa with eclude and sequence after, right?

didn't test it exactly the same way...

for first page use "hit number = 1"

but hit number 1 is not always on the same day and same visit so thats why I wouldnt use hitnumber1 plus in apps hitnumber one is mostly a launcg event.

But your segment would only take sessions with at least 2 pageviews. why not including this segment on visitor level same way plus excluding visitors with more than 2 pages or visitors who have only bounced and never seen anything before?

Hi laetizia_2018

hit number = 1 is always the first hit of a visit, independent of the day. that means, a hit segment with this condition would give you all entry pages/entry hits. what is the use case for this? maybe that helps to understand the segment.

regarding my segment, please read the explanation above carefully. Maybe I find some time to test it, but I'm pretty sure it will work.

and it shoukd even include single page visits, since I'm EXCLUDING certain parts of visits (all but last hit), therefore the single page visit will remain.

let me know if you need more information
