How do i enable pathing on the Channel variable (s.channel)

There are no report suite settings for the default variables; s.pagename and s.channel. The path reports for page name are available but there's nothing in the path report menu for Site Sections (s.channel). The Adobe help article just says you need to enable pathing but doesn't say where or how. Can anyone help?
