Data Insertion API for Mobile

The Data Insertion API documentation is fairly clear on how to send in data regarding eVars and values. However, I am trying to understand how I would use the API to send in data on mobile states (i.e. screen views) and actions (i.e. button taps). Is this possible? If so, are there docs that point out how this is done?
