Are Marketing Channel Processing rules case Sensitive?

Hello,

Are marketing channel processing rules case sensitive? have they always been this way?

It appears to me that they are not, but I would like to confirm that this is not a bug. My company has always used a case sensitive approach, and I am wondering if it has been wrong all along, or if this update was made recently.
