We have implemented the new "Activity Map" and are running into an "access denied" message if the user trying to install the plugin is set as "user" and not "admin". The users are part of the "Activity Map Access" group. Has anyone else run into this issue, is there a solution?? I have searched the forum but haven't found anything similar.
Solved! Go to Solution.
The Activity Map Access group only provides access to the actual tool. In order to download Activity Map, users need to belong to a user group that have access to the Tools > Legacy ClickMap Installation permission within user groups.
The reason why it appears as if only Admins have the right to download Activity Map is because the above mentioned permission is enabled by default. Non-admin users will need this permission enabled in order to download the tool.
Suggestion:
Create a new user group that only provides permission to Tools > Legacy ClickMap Installation. You can then add non-admin users to this group. This level of permission combined with the Activity Map Access will provide comprehensive permissions to download and use the tool.
Hi Paula,
If a user is a part of the Activity map access group he/she should be able to see the download button in the Tools> Activity Map page.
One thing I would want you to make sure is that the report suite is enabled for Activity Map reporting. You will find the steps to do that here - https://marketing.adobe.com/resources/help/en_US/analytics/activitymap/activitymap-enable.html
Let me know if the issue still persists for you. Thanks!

Thanks for the reply,
The users can get as far as the button on the download plugin page, when they click the button the "access denied" message is given if the user is set up as a "user" only and not as "admin". If the user is "admin" then there is no trouble at all downloading the plugin and running "Activity Map" in the browser.
All setup instructions have been followed, reports activated and visible in Adobe Analytics.

Hi Paula,
Thanks for getting back.
If all the steps described are being followed, the only reason I can think of is that there is a possible conflict between user permissions in the group. For example if a user is added to the "Activity Map Access" group but there is another user group which prohibits user access to activity map then that user would not be given access.
I would request you to please look into the user groups again and ensure there are no conflicts happening.
Let me know if your users are able to get the access. Thanks!

Hi,
I am having the same issue as Paula. I changed one of our users to Admin and did not change any of their group settings. They were previously not able to download Activity Map, and after switching to Admin they were. Can you please investigate this issue as we would like to provide our users with Activity Map access but would prefer not to set them all to admins.
Thanks,
Wes

Thank you for the help. Why is this not mentioned anywhere in the Activity Map documentation? Why is this permission not labeled Activity Map Installation? It seems to me that being in the Activity Map Group should allow users the ability to download the tool and to use it, especially as this is the only item that is explained in the setup guide. I realize there are probably reasons for this, but it seems needlessly confusing regardless.

Thank You! This worked and I agree, I expected access to download the plugin to be part of the "Activity Map Access" group which is a pre-defined user group.

Thanks Chris for jumping in and providing the exact solution, really appreciate it!
I too agree this should have been highlighted in the documentation and this is a gap that should be filled. I would reach out to the documentation team right away to get this information added. Thanks Paula and Wes for asking this question and bringing this communication gap to light.
