Stop unsent schedule dashboards from being pushed when refreshing data

From time to time, our scheduled daily dashboards stop being delivered. It appears as if this results from latency at the time of processing the data needed for the dashboard. Sometimes, several weeks go by before our dashboard recipients notify us that there is a problem. I respond by going into the Scheduled Dashboards screen in the admin interface, and clicking the refresh button next to the stalled dashboard. Screenshot attached.

When we do, the system sends an email to each recipient for every day of delivery that was missed. That results in several people in our company receiving the same report multiple times. At 500K apiece, that results in our memory-capped email boxes becoming clogged, preventing other vital email from delivering properly.

Instead of delivering every missed dashboard email upon refresh, the system should only send the next scheduled email, resulting in the dashboard delivery resuming its normal schedule without overloading our (or your) email system.

We do not want to engage in a practice of deleting and recreating dashboards every time a latency issue causes delivery of the scheduled reports to stop.

Any timeline to get this addressed?  Have had several business owners complain and should really have more options than just Refresh or Delete.  There isn't even visibility as to how many reports will go out, etc.

Interestingly, some customers demand that every single instance of a scheduled report be delivered when catching up. There are no immediate plans to change the current behavior; however, you can simply edit the schedule and set the start date to the current date or a future date, then you won't have any catch-up schedule instances delivered. This can be done for Reports & analytics dashboards and bookmarks, and ReportBuilder workbooks only. Other components such as Data Warehouse, Ad hoc, and Analysis Workspace have different scheduling mechanisms and constraints.

@BrianWatson  Attaching two screenshots one as myself, an admin and one as the user tied to the report... both showing the edit icon disabled.  Please address based off your comment "you can simply edit the schedule".

As for the "Other components such as Data Warehouse, Ad hoc, and Analysis Workspace have different scheduling mechanisms and constraints." was just on the webinar Ben Gaines was presenting and made the comment.  He recommended to submit as a feature request, so please update status from Declined, which seems rediculous to have set since this is a forum for feature requests.
