Shorten Excel File Names for emailed reports

Currently for many emailed reports that I schedule for myself, the file name format is too long and causes and error when trying to open it directly from the email into Excel. 

I have to save the file to my desktop, shorten the name and then open.

Here's an example file name:

Referral Sub-Group Report for Comedy Central Master Suite (viacomedycentral) - Sat.  6 Nov. 2010 - Fri. 12 Nov. 2010.xls

Surely the limitations of Excel are known, so exports/emailed reports out of Site Catalyst should adhere to those limitations.
