Report Builder - Refresh only version

Hi,

it would be great to have a read / refresh version version of Report Builder.

The ideas is our WA teams builds the report template for users and locks it down incl. the user credentials.

Users then should not be able to change anything in the sheet beside dedicated fields.

This way we could avoid that users destroy our templates or alter in a way that they get wrong results. Additionally we have users that are only allowed to see specific data. If they don't now the user credentials and only have a read/refresh only version they cannot create new queries to get data which they are not allowed to see.

Ideally the read/refresh only version would have another licence modell/fee than the standard report builder - ie. free ;-)

Very interested to see if others have the same needs.

From the perspective of licensing, the new contracts Adobe offers unlimited access to ReportBuilder. The idea of creating a refresh-only/limited version of a workbook is very intriguing, but instead of creating a separate client, we would most likely expand the options of the current client, allowing for users to lock down specific requests or entire workbooks from editing.

Sound would be brilliant.

Maybe it would also be possible to use different user rights for report builder: change and update only. This has the advantage that one may not forget to lock down the report.

Another useful idea for managing access at a general level. This is something we will plan to add for the next major release.

The functionality should be always based on user roles, otherwise it could lead to potential data security issues. If there is no user authentication then anyone outside the organization who receive the file can refresh and view the updated stats.

Also, if the login is locked, then you will have to inform everyone who uses that report whenever the password is updated - which will not be a good idea for companies with large team.

Hi, this is not what I was looking for.

I do not need a report based lock, but a client or rights based lock.

I don't want certain users to be able to build there own reports (or change sent ones), but only be able to refresh pre-build reports.
