Report Builder for Mac

Would love to see Report Builder available for the Mac. Out of my last 3 jobs, I've only been able to use it once for this reason. Not willing to get a PC just for Report Builder, but it would be huge to begin using this tool once again.

The newest version of excel for the mac imitates the PC version, and for the first time I can actually us excel in the mac environment. I used to have to run everything through vmware in order to utilize adavnced excel functions.

I am suggesting you get the add-ins for the excel client and report builder created for the 2010 version of excel for the mac to make my life easier.

I need Report Builder on mac.   Vertual machine isn't stable, and dual boot is a pain in the butt.

The current version of ReportBuilder is built on the .NET framework, which is not currently supported on OS X, as far as I am aware. This plug-in would then have to be completely rebuilt in order to run on the OS X platform.

By way of clarification to reduce redundancy, this idea has been logged here: ReportBuilder for Mac

While Excel for Mac 2010 has brought the software much closer in terms of features to the Windows version, the core issue at hand is the lack of support for VBA/.NET code, which is what ReportBuilder currently relies on for its primary functions.

Once Excel for Mac includes such support, we will make quick strides to port the tool over to OS X.

I know that Visual Basis is required for the Report Builder to work, but it is enabled in the latest version of Excel for Mac, so it should not be a problem (anymore).
Also, there is some support for .NET framework on OSX out there, see http://www.mono-project.com/Mono

Those are great suggestions FedericoC,

While you are correct the latest version of Excel for Mac supports VBA, unfortunately it does not support VSTO (a.k.a. .NET) or COM Add-Ins as of yet.

Also, the Mono project does not support Office add-ins yet, but we are always on the lookout for technologies or solutions to help us solve this problem.
