Thank you to everyone who joined us for our MEGA-WUG panel discussion on building and advancing a career as a Workfront Admin!

We had a fantastic conversation with experienced Workfront professionals who shared their career journeys, lessons learned, and practical advice for anyone looking to grow their skills and expand their opportunities in the Workfront ecosystem.

Let’s Keep the Conversation Going

Have a career question that wasn't answered during the session? Looking for advice on growing your Workfront skills, advancing your career, expanding your network, or incorporating AI into your role?

Post your questions in the comments below!

Our panelists will be monitoring this thread and jumping in to answer questions, and we encourage other members of the Workfront Community to share their experiences and perspectives as well. One of the greatest strengths of this community is the willingness of members to learn from and support one another.

unanswered question from session: any additional advice for non-Admins (Project Managers, Power Users, etc.)? Example career paths?

Something that I heard at Summit that really resonated with me is that soon enough there is going to be a need for AI Agent Managers. I wouldn’t consider this an Admin role and if you can get familar with AI Agent best practices early you will have a leg up on the competition.

Other roles would be, Project Managers, Program Managers, Portfolio Managers, Campaign Managers. Anything in the Creative Operations, or Marketing Operations space would be appropriate. You could also go into the Training direction and specialize there.

Being an “AI Agent Manager” would be so exciting! Been taking training classes on the job started the Adobe GenStudio training on Friday. Very exciting.

Unanswered question from session: For those of us focused on career growth, what types of roles should we be considering where Workfront experience is especially valuable? Creative Operations Manager? Project Manager? Marketing Operations Specialist?

All of the above. Depending on where you are now, you may be seeking to grow into manager, sr manager, or director roles; in those instances I recommend looking at who owns Workfront and who are the main stakeholders of the platform. Maybe it’s an IT Lead, or the Director of Marketing Technology. There’s also the workflow and who owns the processes which might be a Senior Project Manager or a Program Manager or the Director of Campaigns.

If you wish to remain an individual contributor there’s System Admin, Fusion Developer, and Product Owner. You could also become a Consultant working on a larger implementation team. There’s also niche roles such as Resource Manager.

Unanswered question from session: Any advice on M365 integration? Teams and SharePoint are a big part of our world.

The biggest hiccup in the integration (using the plug-in/native option) is getting your IT team to approve the request. But once you find the right person who can, then it’s a gamechanger with easily pulling documents from SharePoint and getting/making updates from Teams.

Unanswered question from session: How are you documenting your WF knowledge/solutions portfolio in the event your job status/employer changes or you lose access to WF?

A few things that immediately come to mind:

  • In addition to your brag book of compliments and accomplishments that you’re saving from your emails.
  • I recommend starting a Text Mode Library, there’s so much great text mode examples in ExL and Community and it’s great if you can organize them in a way that can be easily exported.
  • As you finish a project/task/issue take some qualitative and quantative stats such as how many people affected, the percentage change (maybe you reduced the number of fields by 20% or users are now getting back 2% of their day), the teams this benefits. You can then run a report that gathers all of these stats in one place and export the XLSX or PDF so you have those stats for your annual review/resume/website/interview questions
  • Create a Reporting Elements Report that lists out the filters, views, and groupings of each report so you have an easy record of the reports you created and can reuse elsewhere
  • Export Fusion scenarios as json so you can Import them to other systems
  • Download a copy of your training materials and system documentation
  • Take certification exams, ExL Courses, & LinkedIn Courses and add the verification link to your LinkedIn Profile
  • Write Perspectives or volunteer to speak at various events and keep a copy of your presentation

PLEASE NOTE: this is going to vary based on your organizations rules around what you can and cannot save or claim as your own so be sure to remain compliant!

After writing the above I realized the question might also be asking where/how to document these things and you could add a section to your resume or list the accomplishments under the role. Use your LinkedIn About Me section as a way to really highlight your story. You can also create a portfolio/professional website which lists everything with links or visual examples (if available)

I have a new creative director and would love to provide him with a comprehensive dashboard to manage his three direct reports. I popped into Copilot what was the best Adobe Workfront Dashboard for Creative Directors would be, and it replied:

For a Creative Director in Adobe Workfront, the “best” dashboard is one that centralizes team workload, project progress, and creative deliverables in a clear, customizable view — ideally set as the home page so it’s the first thing they see when logging in Adobe Experience League.

But when I tried to follow the “step-by-step” instructions, I get a bit lost. I will try to pop the same question into the Adobe AI Assisstant to see if it can help me. But would LOVE your thoughts on a Creative Director Dashboard! Thanks! @MoniqueEvans

Great question Bryna. If you haven’t already please post this as a separate Community topic so it isn’t buried under this event and I’m sure some others will happily chime in as well.
