workflow including HTTPS request - storing response for given user - using that in email

I need to create HTTPS request in the workflow and then store results in the table. In the response there would be recommended products for specific customer. In one column there would be customerIds and in the next ones there would be recommended products from Adobe Target. Then I would like to include these recommended products dynamically in the email. Could you give me any hints how such a workflow might look like? Unfortunately I am a newbie into Campaign
