Open source framework for custom Campaign Classic v8 workflow activities

Hello!

I've recently taken this old "AC Tips and Tricks" article that I came across and used it to create a public GitHub repository that contains code and documentation for creating custom workflow activities in Adobe Campaign Classic.

I thought I'd share it here, just in case it's of interest to anyone who is looking to extend their platform implementation in this way:

https://github.com/mroshaw/acc-custom-activity

I'd be very interested to hear your thoughts and feedback!

This is a really valuable initiative—thanks for taking the time to modernize and preserve those old AC Tips & Tricks insights in a practical, reusable way. Having a public repo with both code and documentation for custom workflow activities in Adobe Campaign Classic is extremely helpful, especially since this area is often under-documented.

A few things that stand out positively:

  • Clear intent and structure for creating custom workflow activities

  • Useful reference for developers extending ACC beyond out-of-the-box capabilities

  • Great learning resource for teams inheriting legacy ACC implementations

A couple of suggestions that might make this even more impactful:

  • Version compatibility notes (e.g., ACC 7.x / 8.x / specific builds)

  • A sample end-to-end use case (business scenario → custom activity → workflow screenshot)

  • Clear installation / deployment checklist (DEV → TEST → PROD)

  • Guidance on error handling, logging, and rollback

  • A brief note on supportability and upgrade risks, since custom activities can be sensitive during platform upgrades

Overall, this is a solid contribution to the ACC community and fills a real gap. With a few additions around governance, testing, and lifecycle management, it could easily become a go-to reference for teams building custom extensions in Adobe Campaign Classic.

Great work, and thanks for sharing!
