From Campaign v7 to v8, what's the biggest challenge?

Migrating from Adobe Campaign v7 (or earlier) to v8, or even jumping to AJO, and sometimes feels like a raffle. You prepare everything… but you’re never 100% sure how smooth it will be.

From what I’ve seen, many customers forget some of the big advantages with v8:
-It’s available as a Managed Cloud Service.
-It runs on a hybrid architecture.
-It introduces full federated data access, a game-changer for working with data at scale.

And yet, the hardest parts aren’t always technical:

  • Data foundations → if your model isn’t clear and audiences aren’t stitched, migrations get messy.
  • Organizational alignment → setup is easy; getting approvals from different teams and buy-in is not.
  • Mindset shift → v8 and AJO bring new interfaces, new workflows, and the challenge of true adoption.

Some solutions, that I've seen that work well:

  • Define a clear roadmap.
  • Prioritize countries or business units to phase rollouts and keep it going.
  • Don't forget to test, test, test to avoid unexpected surprises.
  • Remember: AJO business cases will always differ from those of Campaign.

I’d love to hear from this community, wether you have gone through it or not:

What’s been your biggest challenge with Adobe Campaign migrations or moving to AJO?
