Varying available statuses by group, for the same object

I can't work out how to show different statuses to different groups for the same object - eg a project.

As a project moves through different stages, we want to allow different user groups to be able to change the status - but only to statuses visible to that group.

eg - to trigger an action in FUSION - that only that group can decide is appropriate.

All I can find is that groups can be assigned to an object - and then the statuses available to that group will be available.

Which means once I've assigned a project to a group - the statuses will apply to all groups seeing that project.

This seems VERY restrictive.

Has anyone managed to do something similar ?

maybe FUSION changing the group assigned to the project as it progress through the stages ?

Thanks in advance as always

Hi @GeraintJo, that is correct. A group will be the main driver of the statuses assigned to that project. I would use the same approach yes, if you want a whole project to have different statuses, then I would use Fusion to change project group - just be mindful of sharing permissions, etc.

Another option is to have a dropdown with display logic for a status and maybe use that as a Fusion trigger? That way you can at least show it to multiple groups, etc.?

Hi @GeraintJo,

the group which is assigned to project is defining the status of the project and it’s wanted.

For example if the status “Current” has a different name in different groups, you would have different names for the same status dependent if you’re in certain group.

Or if you are in two groups assigned to same project, which group is defining the workflow.

We had similar requirements and solved this using approval which restrict the persons changing the status or using Fusion to actively changing the sharing permissions based on the status of the project.
