Use Reference Number in Internal Lookup?

Previously, in typeahead fields you were able to type in the object reference number, but it looks like this is not a functionality of the internal lookup field? Does anyone know if this is a future-state functionality?

 

Example: Reference # 172401 pulled up the project named “25-26 Training Task Queue” for the Project typeahead. When I type that same number into the internal lookup field it returns “No results”.

    We’ve been informed from our Adobe rep that this is intentional with this update. This is VERY disappointing as we JUST designed a solution with Adobe consultants that use typeahead functionality and being able to enter the reference number is a MUST HAVE with that solution.

    Oh wow, that’s really disappointing. We’ve also been working on a new intake form that uses the typeahead field. We wanted folks to be able to lookup projects, and we often tell them to use the reference number.  Thankfully part of our naming convention is to usually include the reference number in the project title, but it would be nice if it pulled up projects/request with the reference number alone.

      I would recommend you test this as an external lookup field instead and switch over to that if it works.

      Internal lookup fields currently don’t seem to support searching by object reference numbers like typeahead fields do. You may need to use a searchable display field or add the reference number as a lookup attribute if supported. Otherwise, this may need a future product enhancement request.
