Tracking changes made to custom field without overwriting previous data

Description - We'd like to be able to create a journal entry report to track what/when changes are made to a custom field without overwriting any previous information (every time a change is made).

Why is this feature important to you - It's important we are able to accurately report every single time a user modifies a field in a report, so we are able to address each change when auditing.

How would you like the feature to work - We'd like to be able to create a journal entry report based on a field in one of our project idea custom forms that will display each time that a user has updated the field along with the date/time the change was made without ever overwriting information that was there previously.

Current Behavior - Currently, it appears we are only able to see the latest change/update made to the field. Whenever changes are made, the latest change overwrites all previous information. We'd like in the future for all updates to be reflected in the report without overwriting any previous changes that were made.

We could really use this functionality too. Seems like there should at least be a "history" available.

The use-case/behavior you're describing is the primary function of a journal-entry report. Here is an example of one of my test cases. I updated the same custom field on that request 3 times. As long as you have track changes turned on for the field in question, you should have data like this available to you.

You will need to experiment with which Old/New field pairings you need depending on the data type collected in your fields. There's a pair for text values, date values and number values. The issue with your report is that you've selected the wrong columns. They don't get laid out like most other reports in Workfront. If you give Support a call, they should be able to steer you in the right direction.

Hi @khloehi (et al),

For another approach, I invite you to consider this Targeted Auditing technique.
