Synchronize statuses between converted issue and resolving object (project)

Per conversation during Summit:

When your converted issue is linked to a resolving project, here’s the link to the information about what happens.

https://experienceleague.adobe.com/en/docs/workfront/using/manage-work/issues/convert-issues/resolving-and-resolvable-objects#synchronize-statuses-when-the-resolving-object-is-a-task-or-a-project

In summary: changing to specific project statuses will trigger a change to the issue status. I had at least one admin asking me about this over breakfast -- when a project is set to Planning, this is equivalent to issue status NEW which is why your actual start date keeps getting overwritten. [MATT E -- please make sure you look at your project preferences to set a default status for your new projects -- maybe on hold rather than Planning?]

The “better” thing to do is to set up a set of custom statuses for a better linkage between project and originating issue -- and then hide the custom issue statuses so that your users are not able to manually select or see them to select. Hopefully the example given here is useful (project’s status is Launched, issue’s status is Project Launched): https://experienceleague.adobe.com/en/docs/workfront/using/manage-work/issues/convert-issues/resolving-and-resolvable-objects#synchronize-the-custom-status-of-the-resolving-object-with-the-custom-status-of-the-resolvable-object
