Report inline editing

Hi All help articles indicate that I should be able to inline edit reports but I have one that doesn't work -- none of the fields allow me to edit them from within the report -- and I can't figure out what's different about this one. Any clues would be great. - Assignment report - No custom fields - Run with the rights of an Admin (me) Thanks! Jill Ackerman

I'm not a reporting expert but... I think the truer statement is probably that you can often inline edit reports and the trick is to make sure that the fields you are trying to edit are on the object that you're reporting about. For example if I wanted to EDIT a project's planned completion date, I'd be most likely able to do this in a project report. If I wanted to edit a task's planned completion date, I would be most likely to do this in a task report. On the other hand, I can REPORT on task planned completion dates in a project report (through collections). And I can report on a project planned completion date in a task report. But I won't be able to inline edit those fields on those reports. And yes, there are a few reports where it feels like you can't edit anything (I think from memory, assignment and document approval reports fall into this category for me). I usually just shrug and move on but I guess if you think about it, an assignment isn't an object so why would you be able to edit anything on it? At any rate, that's how I understand (or what I guess about) inline editing. @Trevor Pierce maybe a good workfront wednesday post idea? -skye
