Prevent Duplicate Issue Conversation

We would like to have the option to prevent an issue from being converted to a project more than once. Sometimes we have more than one person managing an issue and the second person does not see that the issue has already been converted. This causes the original project to be “lost” because it is no longer linked and opens up the potential for double work.

Hello! I’m not sure if this might help, but back in the day, I had a team of PMs working the intake of requests, so we worked out of a Dashboard (not via the emails or Requests page).  It had several reports, but the first one had a report that showed the Converted Project Name (or conditional formatting that showed it was not converted). This process was so helpful  - we had support when we went on PTO, our leaders could see progress, assignments, etc. It doesn’t address the functionality challenge, but it’s a process change that might help, so I wanted to share.  Here’s a screenshot example of that report.

Would it also be possible in your process for the first person to remove the other assignees before they convert the project? That in addition to Cynthia’s reporting above could add an extra layer security if they are just looking for requests they are assigned to convert to projects.

    Hi @jenv3, Hi @MorganHatcher,

Do have Workfront Fusion? You can do the following.

    1. Build a scenario which converts the issue into a project. The scenario can check if the issue was already converted and discontinue if already done. The check can be done by using field for “Resolving Project” (aka Resolving Object ID in Fusion). You use a status change to trigger the conversion or checkbox in a custom form.
    2. Adjust the Layout Template and hide the conversion options from the menu.
