Outlook Plugin Updates/Patches

How do updates for the Workfront Plugin for Outlook get communicated? I understand they are automatic. Are updates included in the regular Workfront release notes? How are patches pushed out/communicated?

Hi @m_horton,

The Workfront for Outlook plugin is delivered as a Microsoft Office Add-in through Microsoft AppSource, which means updates are automatically managed and applied by Microsoft. You’ll always be using the latest version without needing to install or update anything manually.

In terms of communication, major changes are typically shared through Adobe Workfront’s official channels like Experience League or the Product Release Notes. However, smaller patches or fixes may not always be individually documented.

Recently, Microsoft released an update that impacted plugin functionality. In response, our team published this troubleshooting guide to help address the issue directly: Troubleshooting Outlook Identity Token Error

To stay informed on upcoming changes, I recommend bookmarking the release notes changes and checking those regularly. And if you have specific improvements or features you’d like to see, we encourage you to share your ideas in the Workfront Innovation Lab—our product team actively reviews submissions there.

Hi Nathan,

While that is true for now - the troubleshooting with enabling legacy tokens working; Microsoft has depreciated the functionality and is going to stop facilitating the same from June without special permission, and at all from October '25.

Do you know if there is anything in the roadmap to address this?

Because before the year is out, the add-in will stop working.

Thanks,

@nathanjo1 What is the long term plan to solve for losing this functionality for the Outlook plugin?
