Idea Exchange Promotion

This one may have made the rounds before, but its something I know my company desperately needs: when you upload a new version of a file, the name that appears in Workfront should MATCH the latest file name. I came across this awesome idea that I think most of you would appreciate as well. At the moment you can only control if hours are logged to completed projects but the idea is to also control if you can log time to a completed task. I personally would not have this featured turned on as my users typically will have a few outstanding timesheets that need to be closed out, but I could see how more stringent instances could benefit from this. I don't know if this has been posted here (and even if it has, PLEASE vote for it), but here's one my organization sorely needs: we need our file versions to retain their file names. Our docs route through various departments, so when we have a version control issue, its impossible to figure out what file was uploaded when because they're all named the same thing, basically. Hi Anthony, I did some R&D on this idea of trying to record the actual file name that was uploaded into Workfront. The way it works is: Drop SampleDoc01.txt into Workfront A Document Version (1) is created under the hood with a File Name in this format: 1_guid_SampleDoc01 Drag SampleDoc02.txt onto SampleDoc01.txt in Workfront Another Document Version (2) is created with a File Name such as 2_guid_SampleDoc01 etc. The punchline is that (as designed), there's nothing in Workfront that stores the name of the subsequent versions. So. In addition to your Idea Share request, two other manual options would be to: create a Document Custom Form with a custom text parameter called "Latest File Name" and copy/paste it in upon upload same idea, but simply copy/paste it in as a Note rather than a dedicated parameter I've added my R&D notes below (which I'd originally hoped would be the unique "real" file names), if you're interested. Hi All, I have just posted a new idea and would people to upvote if you agree! When adding a request to a task,w e would like to be able to see the full breadcrumb view to atleast project as, where we use task templates, the parent task won't give accurate information as to where they are at, they need to see the level above it.
