I'm receiving an error when uploading documents. (Failed to upload file)
This is happening to my zip file that is 1.77 GB
I never used to get errors like this but for about the last month have been having this happen all the time.

Hi @adrianbu6

Thank you for your question! I have not run into this error recently. There is no limit on the file size, so I suspect it may be network related. Are you still seeing this behavior?

I have a user that is also having the same issue where they get the "Error Failed to upload file" message when trying to upload an excel.

Hi @PaulaB02 , @AdrianBu6 , @sherry_king there is no strict file size limit in Workfront, but uploads must complete within about 5 minutes and your environment must have enough available storage.

This issue is often caused by network/browser interruptions or upload timeouts rather than the file size itself. Since another user is seeing it even with a 2.21 MB file, it may be environment or connectivity related.

I’d recommend trying:

  • A different browser
  • Another network/connection
  • Clearing browser cache

If the issue still persists, please log a support ticket with the Workfront Support team for investigation.

For future troubleshooters - I would also add having the user try to upload via drag-and-drop and then again by clicking ‘Add File’. We occasionally see a difference in behavior there that I think is our internal DLP software interfering, trying to scan a file for data we shouldn’t be uploading. For some reason it primarily misbehaves when using drag-and-drop but not ‘Add’.
