Embedded Requests not showing in Users Requests Widget or Tab

Hello all,

We have several Request Queue Templates that our groups use to embed requests in their projects. These are configured to use the same routing rules as the corresponding “actual” Request Queues.

However, none of the embedded requests are visible in the users’ Requests tab or in their Requests widget, even though the regular submitted requests from the main queues show up as expected.

I’ve tried to find documentation of this or others in the community encountering the same issue with no luck.

Is this a known/temporary issue tied to the new experience, or does this sound like a configuration problem/bug that warrants a Support ticket?

Thank you for you input.

can you clarify whether these are published queues? If not they do not show in the requests area

Thank you. The queues set up at the template level are not published queues.

I thought a request was a request and would show the same way as a request report would.

    Thank you again,

@DawnmarieD  As far as I have experienced it, the Requests area is for “submitted” requests only. That said, I’ve run the following tests so far with the following results, and invite you to do the same.

    1. issue submitted to a published queue -- shows up
    2. issue moved to a published queue -- shows up
    3. issue moved out of the published queue -- continues to show up (not sure why)
    4. project with existing issues and changed to a queue -- existing issues do not show up, but new issues do

it feels like once it is moved INTO a published queue or created IN a published queue, some flag is set and this flag is not removed when it is moved out.

For what it is worth I’ve seen a number of customers just provide their users with a custom dashboard in the requests area and coach them to use this INSTEAD of the Submitted section.

Clarifying to make sure I'm understanding correctly - you’ve built Queue Topics/Routing Rules into your project/project templates and set them up to match the same naming and routing as your free-standing request queues available in the Requests area?

Then once your people go into an ordinary project and submit a Request, you’re expecting to be able to go to the ‘Requests’ pane and see them there? If so, that feature doesn’t work that way. Requests submitted in a project queue live within that project and don’t show up in the Requests area.

You COULD alter your project-level routing rules to route to your request queue project though. I haven’t specifically tested to see if routing rules set-up that way show in the requests lists, but it makes sense to me that they would.

Thank you for your response. I understand the concept that the request lives with the Project if it is created within the project (and that is after all what we want) but I’m not clear on why if it is a request it doesn’t show on the widget or request list. It is still a request and uses the same custom form etc. The only difference is the project where it lives.
The permissions we have set up to the Routing (Landing) project for a request queue will not allow to add an embedded request. It was certainly worth trying.

Thank you again for your time.

Could you share more about request queue templates? What I understand is you have built templates that you are using to create new request queues in the system and those newly created request queues do not appear in the new request page and my requests widget?

If this helped you, please mark correct to help others : )

We are not creating new request queues in the system via a template. We use a template to embed a requests into a project. The requests route to the same team as the System Request Queue (Published Help Request Queue) but does not route to the same project. The request created by the template live within the project it was created (the project the template was added) not the “Landing Project” that the System Request Queues are routed. The issue is when a request is created outside the Published Help Request it does not show on the users Requests Submitted list.
