Custom Column in Report - Count of People Assigned to Project

I'm trying to create a project report that includes a column displaying the number of people assigned to a project. Even better, I'd love to create columns to count the number of people on a given team assigned to that project.

Is this possible? I was able to get the report to show a list of the users assigned (thanks to this thread) but I'm stuck on getting the count.

I think the closest you would get is a matrixed assignment report using DCNT.

While I've used this to do the opposite (projects a user is on), I think it also does tally up number of users on each project.
