Charts - Reorder Project Status

Currently on my Bar Charts and Pie Charts - Project Status is shown in alpha order according to the Technical name of the status. I want to reorder them so that they follow the path of the project - Idea, Approved, Rejected, hold, Planning, Current, Completed. Even changing the names to 1 - Idea, 2 - Approved, doesn't help because it goes by technical name so CPL, CUR, etc. which puts Current after completed. I can reorder in the drop downs, but not on the charts or in the columns.
